My independent reading book is Gossip Girl by Cecily Von Ziegsar. The main character is named Blair. She is a high school student, and she lives down town New York. Her mother has a lot of money and is considered higher class. Blair envies her best friend, Serena. Her best friend and her family also would be considered high class and live in down town New York. Serena is just returning from being kicked out of her boarding school in New Hampshire. She is that one girl that everyone loves but envies, adores but hates all at the same time. She is tall, blonde long hair, and beautiful.

Blair finds out once Serena returns home that Serena had slept with Blair’s boy friend before she went away to school. Blair was about to have engaged in intercourse when her boy friend had turned around and told her, ” I had sex with Serena “. When Blair found out she thought her life was over. She had kicked her boy friend out and sat there, miserable and crying. She missed him as soon as he was gone. She had told Serena off, Blair told everyone what Serena had done. In the end none of that mattered because Blair soon realized her life long friendship with Serena meant too much for her, and her relationship with Nate was meant to be.

I chose this book because it was filled with drama and that interested me. I really like reading gossip and stories about peoples lives. The theme was traditional, it was like any other gossip girl book. From the first page if the book the drama with Blair had already started. The book is very entertaining. When I read it through I was a bit surprised on how different the girls were in this book than in real life. This was not one of the best books I have ever read, but I did enjoy reading it very much. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl.

My favorite book of all time would have to either the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling or Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen.
