English 3/4 – Literary Period Projects

Hi Folks –

Below is the list of who is doing each literary period project followed by the project requirements:

Each poster project must include:

  • Literary period at top center of poster board
  • Definition of period with info about date ranges, and defining characteristics (think – how does someone know they reading something from the period)
  • Famous authors and titles (novels/poems/plays/etc.) associated with the period
  • Important historical events influencing writing during the period, or resulting from writing during the period.
  • Use of color and many pictures is a requirement

Holocaust Class: Read This – Topic Presentations Update

Hi Everyone –

Below is the order of presentations based on the lottery drawing we did during class.  If you were absent for the lottery, a number was picked out of the box on your behalf.  Please keep in mind that failure to present on your assigned day will result in a failing grade for the project.  Remember, you will be graded as both the teacher and the student for the duration of project presentations, so please make sure to avoid absences, as they will negatively impact your final grade.

PowerPoint projects must be emailed by the end of class on Tuesday 4/9 to be added to the course website prior to your presentation.

Project presentations must be 30 minutes long, and incorporate in-class activities and assessments to confirm that your classmates have learned something from you.

Deadline Alert: Bridge Academy Projects

Attention ALL Bridge Academy Students!

The following deadlines have been set for Portfolio & Independent Reading Projects.

  •  January 3rd – Books Must Be Completed By This Date
  • January 17th – Portfolio Projects (Including All Independent Reading Components) Are Due By This Date

Remember – You have been provided more than enough time during class meeting times to complete these assignments.  Any work not completed during class time (for any reason) is your responsibility to complete on your own time.

ENG 1/2: Lord of the Flies – Individual Reading Schedule

Overview: Below is the required reading schedule for your class, as well as information about upcoming quizzes and in-class activities.  Please note, you will be responsible for all readings before the start of each class, unless otherwise noted.  Finally, please come prepared with a list of at least 5 words you don’t recognize for each chapter, as well as 2 questions you have about the reading.

Chapter 1-6 – Due 11/15 (Previous in-class reading assignments)

Chapter 7 –  Due 11/16 (Read in-class on 11/15 & Finish for H.W.)

Chapter 8 – Due 11/19 (Open Response Quiz on ch. 1-8 in class)

Chapter 9 – Due 11/20 – (Write down and bring in 5 questions you have about the reading to discuss in class)

Chapter 10-12 – Due Monday 11/26 (Review for test in class 11/26 &11/27)

Test on Book – 11/28 – Test will consist of open response and short answer questions.

Bridge Academy: Q1 – Portfolio Deadlines

Hi Folks –

The time has come for our first round of Portfolio Project checks and grades!

October 31st: Student/Teacher Check-In  –  You will meet one-on-one with Bridge teachers about the status of your portfolio [Prompt 1-8]

November 2nd: Portfolios Due  –  You will be required to have at least one draft of each portfolio prompt [Prompt 1-8]

Welcome Back!

Hello Everyone –

I trust you all had a fantastic summer break, and are ready to tackle the school year ahead.  Just a quick reminder that your summer reading projects will be due upon your return.  As many of you found out last year, summer reading can make the difference between passing or failing for the first quarter.   Please don’t wait until the last minute.  If you have misplaced the summer reaading project packet, it can be found on the school’s IMC website.  I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
